This time we went to Las Lisas on the Pacific coast. It is a small town with no cars- the only access is by boats. It is separated from the mainland by a canal that meets the ocean a few miles away. We stayed in a really cute hotel. The rooms were bungalows with thatched roofs. We had 2 hammocks in our room as well! At night there was a small disco in town that we walked to. Arturo is attempting to teach me some Latin dance moves, but it isn't going all that well so far. Before we headed back to his house Sunday afternoon we had fresh ceviche on the beach as the sun began to set. It was a perfect beach experience!
One of my favorite parts of the trip (besides meeting lots of new people) was going to his uncle's farm. We picked avacadoes, mangos, mandarin oranges, oranges, limes, and saw some great views. This region of the country is truly beautiful. The people were all very friendly, and I did ok with my Spanish. I definitely need to practice more though!

Besides the recent trip, nothing that special has been going on here in Guate. I had a Master's course in January, another one starting next week, and another in February. They are keeping me busy! I am looking forward to having some extended family come visit in March.
